Site / Organization Description:
Kinship of Greater Minneapolis helps children ages 5-15 in need of additional adult support to realize their God given potential through adult friendships. Kinship also provides a unique service opportunity for individuals, couples and families to put their faith into action on behalf of children. Kinship volunteers meet with a child about once a week to include them in everyday activities. Program service area includes Hennepin and Anoka counties.

Description of the project:
Life Coaches for Kids® is a Christian mentoring ministry that equips churches and other Christian ministries to lead a mentoring ministry to “at risk” kids in their congregation and community. Our vision is to break the cycle of father absence through transformational mentoring.

Dates of service:
Lay leaders should commit for a minimum of two years service. Mentors commit to a minimum of one year of weekly or bi-weekly mentoring.

Time Commitment/Hours:
Lay leadership of a life Coaches ministry requires approximately five hours per week. Mentoring requires one to four hours per week.

Training/Screening Requirements:
All interested mentors receive five hours of training, background checks and ongoing support. Lay leaders receive an additional five hours of training plus ongoing support.
