History: Arising out of Africa at the dawn of this
century, this global prayer movement has swept the earth in just six years. Some 45,000
people gathered in a stadium in South Africa in 2001, pouring out their hearts in
repentance. Since then, the movement swelled to 22 million people gathered at more than
2,000 sites in every one of the 56 countries of Africa in 2004. The following year, an
estimated 200 million people participated around the world, with the global prayer meeting
beginning in Fiji and move around the time zones.
